Sonya Dee Lewis, is the founder and artistic director of Performer's Playhouse. She earned her doctorate degree from the University of Mississippi. She designed the Playhouse to reflect her background of experiences in the performing arts.
Every aspect of the playhouse exemplifies her passion for the arts and provides an opportunity for her to express her creativity and her ability to stimulate excitement and enthusiasm in children. Sonya's theatrical experiences cover a range of studies and performances. She studied with the Mississippi Ballet Guild under the instruction of Thalia Mara, a world-renowned ballet dancer and performer. She has performed in numerous stage productions such as Oklahoma!, The Nutcracker, Showboat, and Aida. She was also an actor in the Educational Television Series Pennywise. Her family was extremely instrumental in introducing her to the arts at a young age. Sonya was inspired to establish the Playhouse in honor of her son, River, who has a great passion for theater and shares her love of the performing arts. |

Jessica Walck
has been performing for over 15 years and is a self-proclaimed “theatre rat”. She studied the Meisner Technique in NYC at the great, Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre. Off-Broadway Credits include Hair , The Bride of Olneyville Square and The Metropolitan Operas . Although Jessica still loves to perform, she has found a new passion in teaching and directing. She loves working with children because they constantly inspire her in her work. She believes that keeping arts in every community is vital because the arts informs us that we are each unique and then teaches us how to express that quality. |

Mel White, professional vocalist and university professor, shares a wealth of experience and creative talent with students as an accomplished performer, arranger and conductor. He has become noted as a master motivator whose vocal music and music appreciation classes are "standing room only". He is widely known for helping students realize that they can sing, when they initially believed that they were "tone deaf". Everyone who experiences his signature style of conducting immediately catches his spirit and becomes motivated to sing. He began singing, conducting music, and taking piano lessons at age five from his grandmother who was an accomplished pianist and choral conductor. His father, a percussionist, played with the well known Count Basie Band. Mel has a Bachelor of Arts degree in voice, and a Master of Arts degree in choral conducting with the highest honors from Ohio State University. He is now a professor of vocal music and choral director of a 60 member university concert choir with ensembles in Miami, Florida. Mel is also a member of the education team for an upcoming $45 million dollar Performing Arts Complex for Education in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. |

Alla Franzo comes from a modeling career herself. She has been an instructor and a consultant for John Casablancas of South Florida. As a runway model, she has modeled for Neiman Marcus, Diba boutique, and Color Fashion. She has also done print modeling for Sean Matteson and William Moore (from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale). One of her most exciting ventures was that she was chosen to model for one of the designers of the popular television show Project Runway-Season 1. Now she is bringing her successful techniques to you in our 6-week course. |

Alan Pierce has a wide range of credits in both traditional and experimental theatre as an actor, director, educator and producer. He received a B.A. in Drama from NYU, a master's degree in directing from the University of Washington School of Drama, and a doctorate degree from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. He was co-owner and artistic director of The Strand Theatre in Schroon Lake, NY for 15 years. He has directed plays in numerous regional theatres including theatres at Columbia and Princeton universities. Some of the plays that Pierce ahs directed include: "A Moon for the Misbegotten", "The Belle of Amherst", "Appolonius of Tyana", "Capella", and many more. His teaching spans 40 years and he continues to educate and inspire students today. Most recently, he has established the Inverrary Repertory Theatre and directed the theatre's first production of "Stop the World, I Want to Get Off". |

Cindy Dale Grossman . Cindy's greatest influences on her style was formed during her studies at American Ballet Theatre and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre. She has trained with Patricia Wilde with the American Ballet Theatre and Madame Swaboda from Ballet Russe. Her performance undertakings were with the Ballet Nacional de Cuba performing in 'Giselle', the Stuttgard Ballet performing in 'Romeo and Juliet', and the American Ballet performing in 'Swan Lake'. All performances were at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, New York City. She also has performed in several Florida tours with dancers from Alvin Ailey and the Joffrey Ballet. Since moving to Florida, Cindy Dale has taught ballet (including pointe), modern dance (particularly Horton's technique), and jazz for Florida's children for the last twenty years. She lives to teach dance and choreograph.

Dolores Lewis, Co-founder and Director of the Playhouse School Encore program, is responsible for providing children with educational enrichment through theatrical experiences. She is a Reading Specialist and creative writing coach at a University in Miami, Florida with over 40 years of teaching experience. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, she received two advanced graduate level degrees: Master of Science, and Education Specialist. She provides educational tutoring, and assistance with special school projects for children in the Playhouse After School Encore program. |

Shirley Moore, is director of events planning, sales and marketing for the Playhouse. She is responsible for advertising and support services for all theater productions as well as our Star Links network of celebrity mentors. Shirley has a Bachelor of Science degree in sociology and is an integral part of the Playhouse networking and public relations. |
